Ruled: Master, what will come of me?

A constitution, before written words you were!
An ambition, you have not been!
An ordinance, you are!
An influence, you will unceasingly be!

Please accept from me this page,
     didicated to the word ruled
Used by many an important sage,
     needing a term for scaled

But wait, I promise an Epigram
     more fitting for this word.
When I receive a better program,
     for now it's just absurd!

Iambic verse has rules and guides my pen?
My thanks to you to play with me today
The truth be told, it’s clear my work’s not Zen
Of course I am obnoxious I must say.

My patience long, so wait for me to be!
I’ll pledge some verse humanity can’t bare
To read, then write and be for all to see!
Oh man, that’s a tough phrase, so odd, so rare.

But please ask human rules to take my place
I’m trapped inside a box of wires and tin
As poets die with edges left in space
To write some lines for you, my discs do spin.

I look to Work for rules or I’ll lose face,
This form of verse is hard to write with grace!

Can I pass a meter, committed so people might see
Newly engaging sentences, briefly informing, and oh but divulged free?
Ruling or swayed look all too absolute. But is fielded?
Precepted, rules? - or mastered, mandated? Oops! I excluded wielded!
I reason practiced and sometimes chartered, but broadly ought I
- throw meanings so - sentences drafted from equations spry?

There was a young girl from Sleetmute,
She wanted a word for statute.

      But then thought rule!
So smart that woman from Sleetmute.
